MBSR NYC Reviews

RE: Relieving Phsical or Emotional Pain Mindfully CD
by H.H. (Motivational Speaker)

"Dr. Weiss has done it again! Her other CDs have helped me with the stress and challenges I experience. This new CD helps me address and ease the daily pain I have, as a sufferer of Fibromyalgia. Her calming voice and guidance helps me focus on and then relieve my pain. All I have to do is lay down, push the start button, and listen. This CD should be a staple in the offices of Pain Management Providers."

by J.R.

"I recently had an operation, and had severe post-operative pain. This cd helped me a great deal by helping me put the pain in the background as opposed to the foreground. After listening to the cd, I almost felt like I had taken pain medication. Thank you Myra."

RE: Relieving Phsical or Emotional Pain Mindfully CD
by M.B.

"I have found this recording to actually relieve my chronic physical pain and arrests the ruminating I do about this pain."

RE: Relieving Phsical or Emotional Pain Mindfully CD
by J.V. (Stress Reduction Facilitator)

"I was dismayed to find that I was facing yet another day of lower back pain when I remembered Myra's cd. I laid down to listen. Twenty minutes later my pain had dissolved. I'm always delightfully surprised by the immediate relief from pain I experience after listening to her tape. Thanks so much."

RE: Relieving Phsical or Emotional Pain Mindfully CD
by L.B.D. (Human Resource Counselor)

"This is a wonderful cd that instantly gave me calmness to breathe through my physical pain and relieved a great deal of pain when I finished the meditation. It's slighlty different from Dr. Weiss' other cd's yet very effective. It's wonderful to know that there is something that helps pain other than medication.I strongly recommend it."

by Stacey Horn

"What's maddening about physical and emotional pain, aside from the pain of course, is that sometimes it's not so easy to separate the two. I love this particular guided meditation because I don't have to. I just have to follow along and notice what's going on. That creates just enough distance. and, it turns out, distance is relief. I don't have to be smart. I don't have to be a great meditator. I just have to follow along and try and see what happens."

by L.W. (Artist/Healing Cancer)

"Mindfulness/Insight Meditation taught me the most profound lesson I've ever learned~that my body is my guide. Before meditating, I said my life was "run by my thoughts;" afterward, I see that my life is guided by my body. As Myra kept reminding us: 'A thought is just a thought.' "

by A struggling doctoral student with Attention Deficit Disorder

"On this search for peace, I've tried journal writing, Cognitive thought records, Doctor visits, evaluations and second opinions. A group to spill my fears, a therapist with Freudian ears, to whom I just talked and talked...At last a new door opened, learning moment to moment, to practice attention to the surround sound, momentary awareness and mindfulness. Thoughts come and go in degrees...and that's ok. That's ok?!"

"I am a graduate student of the MBSR program and a Psychotherapist. The tape series has been invaluable to my personal life as well as my professional practice.

Several of my patients are presently benefiting from the Body-Scan Tape. Some describe the experience as "calming." Others say, "It balances my day."

I am delighted to add this tape to my repertoire of therapeutic tools!"

RE: Body-Scan Tape
by Estelle C.

"The benefits of your relaxation tape (Guided Body Scan)is helping me tremendously. I keep it on my night table and switch it on as I go to sleep and, again, in the morning. It's a quiet tape in feeling. Because there is not too much talking, it allows me to meditate at my own pace. Thank you for your help at a very difficult time in my life."

RE: Relaxation Tape
by Michael S.

"Myra: I played your relaxation tape in the car on the way to my regular tennis game. That evening, I proudly told my wife that I played the best tennis in my life! Did the relaxation tape help me focus during my game?"

RE: Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Course & CD
by Helene Holtz

"These tapes do it!! .. that is, they help me do it. Having a tendency to react to stressors, rather than wait, and take appropriate action, I always seemed to be in a state of anger or stress. Daily practice of mindfulness meditation has helped me be aware of myself, my actions and reactions, and primarily to stay present, rather than project. I look forward to hearing Dr. Weiss' voice, which is calming and helpful. I am definitely more relaxed, less stressed, and the bonus is I have become kinder, since using the tapes."

by E.B. (Financial analyst)

"In today's world, we're always looking to go from 0 to 60 mph as quickly as possible. MBSR teaches us to go from 60 mph to 0, while maintaining awareness of the world around us."

by M.S. (Writer)

"Myra gave very customized suggestions to each individual so that no one in the group got lost along the way. Everyone was both equally important as both a student and teacher."
