Three ways to reduce stress in your life:
SELF-HELP, the BASIC STRESS REDUCTION COURSE (BSRC), and MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION (MBSR).
SELF-HELP: Stress can be relieved through your efforts at self-help. Several compact discs and an additional MP3 are now available. You may want to try reaching your desired state of relaxation by using one of these CD's or MP3's at home, then deciding whether one of the following Courses might also be helpful to you. Excerpts from the CDs can be heard on the "CD's & MP3's " page.
BASIC STRESS REDUCTION COURSE: This 2-session Course facilitates relaxing the body and calming the mind. As featured in OPRAH Magazine (October, 2002), students indicated that this Course and the original Mindfulness Meditation CD increased their ability to move through tasks quickly and calmly. MINDFULNESS-BASED STRESS REDUCTION COURSE (MBSR)*: This 8-session Course provides deeper and broader impacts on your life. MBSR is a self-directed way to create greater awareness and control in your life. Awareness permits choice in how to respond and influence circumstances, as opposed to being carried away by reacting to currents of stress.
* This program is a modified version of the program developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn and colleagues at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center-Stress Reduction Clinic.
